Is it okay if you feed ferrets cat food?
I wanted to ferrets foods know because my ferrets won't eat the ferret food,but they like the cat food.They are pet ferrets.
Ferrets are very interesting animals but pet ferret care may be very different from what you are used to with cats, dogs, hamster and other pets. Ferrets have been domesticated but they still adhere to a lot of their natural or wild behavior. For example most ferrets will sleep during the day and then become active at dawn and dusk.
It will do you a great deal of good to find out as much information about feeding ferrets as you can, as ferrets have a very different diet than most indoor pets. Ferrets are carnivores—that means that most plants hold absolutely no nutritional value for them. They also digest their food quite fast, and it will be your responsibility to make sure that the food your ferret receives is full of the energy ferrets foods he needs.
Ferret food that is high in protein, fat and low in fiber is the best. You should never feed your ferret any other food then food specifically designed for ferrets as the nutrition will be all wrong. You also always need to have food for the ferret available at all times.
Ferrets can be trained to use the litter box, however you shouldn’t expect it to be as easy as training a cat, who has more of an instinct for litter than a ferret. Make sure that the litter is easy to access, and when cleaning it, try to leave a little bit of used litter in, so that the ferret associates that area as “the potty.” Also, make sure that the food and sleeping areas have their own distinct section of the cage. Ferret cages should be kept in a general state of tidiness.
Ferrets can naturally have a musky odor and no amount of cleaning will make it go away so just get used to your pet. Most recommended that you give your ferret an occasional bath but don't overdo it. If you bathe your ferret too much it might make the glands start producing more oil and the scent can become overpowering.
Ferret ownership can be very rewarding, but you must be prepared for the responsibilities of owning one. Make sure that you research all of the ferret pet supplies that you will need, as well as eating and behavioral habits. It is even a good idea to look into the diseases and various conditions that ferrets are prone to and set up a regular vet schedule for check-ups.

Contains an awesome amount of protein and fat without too much fiber. My little guys love it and their coats are wonderful. With this formula the poop doesn’t stink as bad and that makes the littler box cleaning more tolerable!
I had heard good things about Innova but had never tried it with my ferrets. I’ve been very pleased with their response to it. Though I always mix a new food in slowly there is usually a slight change in their bowel movements, this time I didn’t notice any changes. Their coats have thickened and are shiny. My older ferret’s sensitive tummy didn’t even have an adverse reaction.
This is THE BEST ferret food rated that is out there that wont put a big hole in your wallet. My ferrets eat it and enjoy it. They are extremely happy and healthy. Enough said.
My ferrets are now in better health. Their coats are softer and they seem to have gotten rid of the dry skin. Very good deal for the price.
As obligate carnivores, ferrets need a meat-based diet. Most ferret foods are corn-based, causing more poop, dry hair and skin, and an increased risk of insulinoma later in life. Compared to a food like Marshalls, your ferret will eat half as much of EVO (more concentrated nutrition), will have a more lustrous coat, will poop half as much (!) and be all around much healthier. Be prepared for your ferret to experience some diarrhea if switching from a grain-based food, but I promise that feeding this food will result in a longer-lived ferret with far less vet bills!
This moist ferret food is great stuff. My little fuzzies gobble it up like crazy. The only reason for the four-star rating is that this food gives them the runs. It’s best used as a complement to a non-moist food such as Marshall’s. I mix them both together so that the little guys can enjoy both without it affecting their stool.
