Ferrets have been domesticated for a long time and Egyptian tombs have picture of ferret like creatures on leashes. The female ferret is called a Jill, the male ferret is called a hob, and babies are called kits. There are three species of ferrets that are popular. The first one are called fiche ferrets. They are described as buff-colored, with a black mask, feet, and tail. The second popular are the Albino ferrets, described as white, with pink eyes and the last popular are the Siamese ferrets that look just like a Siamese cat’s coloring.

Ferret Facts to Know

· Ferrets do not fear humans. A freshly birthed kit can be placed in a teaspoon. · Kits have white fur at birth. · Ferrets live an average of 7 years old. · Ferrets love to sleep in dark small places. · Ferrets sleep very soundly. The most popular 3 ferret spicies. · Ferrets cannot hear or see when they are born.

Ferrets can be entertaining too, as well as a great pet. Fun ferret facts emphasize that they should be out of their cage more than they are in it. If you do not have the time to play and be with your ferret as that is what a ferret need, than consider getting a companion for him or her. A ferrets love attention more so than most pets. Another ferret will give your first ferret the companionship if you cannot play with or be around him or her.

Like any pet, it is a good idea to ferret proof your house or apartment to keep him or her safe, which can be a bit tricky. Train your friends and family to keep an eye out for your ferret. Another of many ferret facts is they have flexible bones and are amazing climbers, which enable them to get into places, even out of reach. Ferrets can get into anything, especially when you are not around, is that smart or what. They can dodge you very quickly being so little of a creatures, they can also get under furniture to hide. When you open the door, be aware that your ferret will be there first!

My favorite of the ferret facts, say that ferrets can be litter trained with litter boxes strategically placed around the house so they will be at their disposal. It is a good idea to keep newspapers around the litter box as they do make at least one mistake a day. Unlike most pets ferrets have a smell to them but are stil the most adorable and cutest pet of to havein your home.

Canine distemper is common in ferrets and they are prone to this disease. Canine distemper is fatal to ferrets. Symptoms include rashes near the groin area, underneath the chin, nostrils and eyes have a pus-laden discharge, and foot pad become thick. Ferrets dye after a 3 to 31/2 weeks after they are exposed to the virus. It is a good idea to see a vet to get shots to protect your ferret from this horrifying disease.

Heat periodis another life threatening disease. A ferret who is subjected to a prolonged period of sexual heat that lasts 180 or more is dangerous and life-threatening. A ferret can be in heat for more than once during their menstrual cycle, which is March through April and if you are not going to bread her, than she should be sprayed between 6 and 8 months old.

Fun ferret facts suggests that ferrets are great pets but need lots of love an attention and if you cannot give that to them, than getting another ferret would be a good choice of companionship until you get home. Take your ferret to the vet as soon as possible and get him or her checked over and given the proper shots. Remember ferrets can get into very tight spots and they love to climb, be careful to watch the door so they don’t get out. Ferrets are a world of fun!

I hope you have found these fun filled ferret facts as useful as I have.
