Ferret info is that they are about the size of a mink that weighs about 2 pounds. Males are typically larger then females with unuttered males even larger, but the average length is 18 inches. Ferrets have long slender bodies with short legs and round short ears. Their fur overall is yellowish brown with black feet and black tail tip. Their face looks like a black mask you would wear on Halloween. Ferrets have claws and scent glands under their tails. Black footed ferrets are wild and not to be confused with ferrets that you can adopt, or purchase through a breed, or pet store. These ferrets are related to the minks, polecats, badgers, weasels and others. Expect litters of about 6 kits, with 10 not being uncommon if you breed ferrets.
Still more info on ferret is that male ferrets are called hobbies and female ferrets are called Jill?s. by the time a ferret reaches the age of one they have reach adulthood. Ferrets love to be loved, play and will seek you out to be held at this age. Ferrets love outings and will go anywhere with you, even uninvited! Ferrets will live to be about 8 years old and will sleep more as he gets older, however, even though older will still be able to play with you. More ferret info is that they can live up to 10 years old but not that common.
Some more ferret info is that they are naturally curious and love to get into most anything in your home. If you cannot find your ferret you can start looking under your sofa, inside your drawers, in your cabinet, falling down the stairs or even playing in the Christmas tree! Ferrets love toys that squeak but the problem with squeaky toys is that ferrets can naw and chew away at it and that isn?t good for your ferret. It might be a good idea to put the toy in something that your ferret can chew on. Some additional key information is to keep in mind that some ferrets love chewing on items and watch out, they can get sick if they decide to chew on the wrong items.
Here is still some more good stuff on ferret, they need to be brushed during shedding time and love to be groomed. If your pet is not brushed, he or she will most like get hairballs, which are hard for them to cough up. Nail clipping should be done about every two weeks but varies from ferret to ferret. Your ferrets’ teth should be cleaned weekly, once he or she is used to having their teeth brushed you should cean their ears as well to start good ferret care 101.
The last ferret info tip is that you should clean their bedding, which may not be the most fun of jobs, but it needs to be done weekly. Your ferret?s cage is cleaned every month and scrubbed down and your pet will love you for it. Just like a cat little box, your ferret box should be cleaned and scooped every day. The food bowel, toys and if you used a water bowl they should be cleaned well. Ferret info, you might not like to clean up after your ferret but,you should do this on a regular basis.
Ferrets are a lot of fun but hard work too. They are great to take with you just about anywhere and dress up. Making sure that a ferret is the right type of pet for you and your home is important!
