Pet Otters – Ferrets on Crack

Female pet African clawless otters, “normal” behavior in a house. You do not want a pet African clawless otter. I have no idea how or where to get one. Don’t ask. You do not want a pet African clawless otter. Get a ferret.

    Otters do not make the noise they are making. I don’t know where the hell that noise is from but its edited in there. They squeak in a high pitched fashion.

    You can´t determine the law by what one police officer says, who is also your friend on top of that. I understand the good intentions and efforts behind why you are tending to the otters, but if you do not have any papers that allows you by law to take care of these otters, it is still very much illegal. The only happy otter is a free otter, no matter even if their “cage” is kilometres in size. And if you would contact an animal emergency unit they would come eventually to pick ém up.

    @Zamandu I
    ve had them for 8 years, not likely, and it’s not prohibited by law out on the country and in small towns, my neighbor is a cop in this small town and him and his family bbq with us occasionally, we are always finding abandoned young or whatnot and raising them or people around. We dont have animal shelters, the closest would be over 500 miles away. this is country life.

    If you´ve stumbled across abandoned otter pups you must contact the nearest animal emergency unit in your area immediately. Even if the intentions where good it is prohibited by law to keep and tend to abandoned/injured wild animals without any signed allowance, for their own best.

  • qoaa:

    @Zamandu they were got as babies, and no im 38 years old “my parents did not get them” either the mother abandonded them or was killed

  • shazzqsong:

    They should be living free in a big watery environment.

    @qoaa
    Wow what LDC do you live in? Otters are NOT meant to be kept as pets, and if you actually do have an otter as a pet know that they suffer just so you can comfort your simple mind by petting them and treating them like toys.
    But I´m pretty sure your parents got you a ferret but you are so extremely naive that you think it is an otter.

    Otters are NOT sold as pets, in fact it is illegal in most places to own an otter as a pet.

  • Zamandu:

    @niclasjt
    In many places it is absolutely illegal to own an otter as a pet. Mostly theo nly way you will ever get to have an otter in your home by legal means is if you are an animal handler and their stay is for VERY WELL explained reasons for short periods of time.

    Otters are NOT pets, and should NEVER be pets.

  • iceninja1985:

    Umm. Where the hell are otters sold as pets? Why would someone want these as pets when they’d totally rape your house?

  • qoaa:

    We recently got a pet otter, they are so much more awesome than a ferret

    I love the logic in keeping a pair of mischievious pets like this with the maximum possible number of things for them to knock over, break, tip, tear, etc…
