TRAINING YOUR FERRET

Ferret training is easy as training your dog or your pet cat. They are intelligent and can be trained easily, be cautious though that the ferret never reacts to punishment and just like a dog, ferret reacts on rewards and incentives. Ferrets have what you call “attention points.” You must patiently focus on this in trying to attract their attention. Punishment and exacting pain on them will not do anything good, instead they will recognize your action with negativity and consequently lose the trust in you. Rewarding good behavior will encourage them to obey and eventually develop good attitude in sought of the prize.
Ferret Training for the Litter Box
Just like a cat, Ferrets can be taught to use a litter box. If you are living in a small apartment or a close quarter neighborhood, training a pet ferret to use a litter box is essentially a shipshape idea. Train your ferret pet while he is very young. Limit him in a small area just like a cage. There should be enough space for the food, sleeping space as well as the litter pan. Soon enough the ferret will recognize the usefulness of each item inside his area, he will then pick a spot where he can use as a toilet—probably a corner where he can come back from time to time.
Ferrets move in such a low profile, they have short legs and stride short, therefore a big space is not a good idea for them—it will only provide them opportunity to choose not just one place to defecate, thus confining them in close and limited space is a good start. If for instance they choose more than one place to defecate, provide them with additional litter box or an old newspaper spread on the floor will do. Tape it on the floor so that it won’t move or get misplaced.
In helping your ferret to further understand the idea you are trying to put across, put little part of feces on the litter box and set him in there for quite some time. You might see him sniffing and circling in the litter box, trying to realize what is it for and eventually give in to the idea of the purpose. If things turn out right and your pet finally gets the idea of a litter box, give him a reward and a pat in the head for a job well done.
Do not try to punish your ferret by rubbing their nose on their fecal whenever they missed using their litter box. Harsh reactions such as these cannot be recognized by them and eventually estrange them away from you. Learn to analyze your pet’s behavioral pattern after eating, by this you can calculate what time approximately he is going to defecate and letting him stay in the cage with the litter box for a while after eating might prevent littering. Establishing a bond between you and your pet will definitely creates a harmony beneficial to both of you and eventually may lead to an accord of good relationship.

Ferret Nutrition Questions and Answers
Ferrets have high metabolisms and you can just feed them as much as they will eat. You don’t have to worry about feeding (for example) 2-3% of the ferret’s body weight. They’re good self regulators with very high metabolic rates so they will eat what they need. You’ll learn through trial and error how much your ferret(s) eat each day.

Giving your Goldendoodle a bath
Many Goldendoodle owners allow their Goldendoodle to become a matted, dirty mess because the act of bathing is simply too much of a hassle. I have to partly agree. Sometimes it really can be. Especially if you own more than one and if your Goldendoodle has a shaggy or curly coat. The smooth coat Goldendoodle is the easiest doodle to bathe and maintain, of all three coat types.
